LINCOLN will maintain permanent contacts with other similar projects and activities in order to be part ofthe European research and scientific community. For this purpose two main projects were selected since the beginning of the project:
HOLISHIP
HOLISHIP objective was to develop innovative, holistic ship design optimisation methods, in which all main design functional requirements, constraints and performance indicators are considered. This included:
building, operational and transport cost,
life-cycle cost,
environmental impact and potential loss of lives for passenger ships.
The result were an integrated design software platform for the entire life-cycle of the maritime product under consideration, enabling also virtual testing and demonstration of the product.
SHIPLYS objective was to develop a Ship life cycle software solutions able to:
reduce the time and costs of design and production
produce better ship concepts through virtual prototyping
meet the increasing requirements for LCCA (Life Cycle Cost Analysis), environmental assessments, risk assessments and end-of-life considerations as differentiators.
Calculation and modelling to achieve the functionalities required are still difficult and time consuming, especially for SMEs without a large overhead of trained staff and tools, SHIPLYS aimed to address these challenges.
